The initiative aimed to strengthen community understanding of landslide hazards and promote appropriate mitigation and response measures by providing realistic visualizations of risk scenarios, early warning signs, and settlement-specific interventions. The assignment involved the development of interactive VR simulations representing settlements categorized according to geohazard risk levels (Category I, II, and III). The VR environment incorporated key indicators of impending landslides, including ground cracks, tilting trees, changes in water springs, slope instability, and other locally relevant warning signs, enabling communities and local stakeholders to better recognize and respond to emerging risks.

It involved quantification of economic losses and identifying and assessing non-economic losses and damages caused by the flood across multiple sectors and dimensions. The study examined impacts on livelihoods, agriculture, businesses, housing, infrastructure, environmental ecosystems, public services, health, cultural heritage, social well-being, and community cohesion. The study aimed to generate robust evidence on the scale and nature of losses and damages experienced by affected communities and to estimate the resources required to address their long-term recovery and adaptation needs.
